DaemonX AUP
Last updated: October 19, 2026
1. Scope and Acceptance
This Acceptable Use Policy applies to the installation and use of Nyxzie DaemonX. It supplements the Nyxzie General Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. By installing or using DaemonX, you agree to comply with those documents and this policy. If you do not agree, do not install or use DaemonX.
2. Intended Use
DaemonX is a local desktop companion that allows authorized Nyxzie web and cloud services to communicate with supported hardware attached to a Windows computer.
Authorized Business Use: You may use DaemonX only for a business, location, and counter that you are authorized to administer or operate.
Supported Workflows: DaemonX may be used for supported point-of-sale and business workflows, including receipt and document printing, cash-drawer control, barcode scanning, and other hardware functions made available by Nyxzie.
Authorized Hardware: You may connect only hardware that you own, control, or have permission to operate. You are responsible for confirming that the hardware is suitable and lawfully used for the intended workflow.
3. Pairing and Counter Security
DaemonX uses pairing credentials and counter profiles to authorize communication between a local installation and Nyxzie services.
Pairing Authorization: Only an authorized user may pair, unpair, configure, or operate a DaemonX installation for a business counter.
Credential Protection: You must not disclose, copy, export, publish, sell, or share pairing codes, profile secrets, access tokens, or other DaemonX credentials with unauthorized persons or systems.
Counter Identity: You must not clone, falsify, or reuse a counter identity to impersonate another counter, bypass licensing, or obtain access to hardware or services that have not been assigned to you.
Account Security: You are responsible for securing the Windows account, computer, browser session, and Nyxzie account used with DaemonX and for promptly reporting suspected unauthorized access.
4. Prohibited Activities
You must not use DaemonX, directly or indirectly, to perform any of the following activities:
Security Bypass: Bypass or interfere with authentication, pairing, counter assignment, origin restrictions, profile permissions, subscription checks, offline leases, usage limits, or other access controls.
Request Manipulation: Intercept, replay, forge, automate, or modify DaemonX requests or responses to trigger unauthorized printing, cash-drawer operations, device discovery, configuration changes, or other hardware actions.
Loopback Exposure: Expose, proxy, tunnel, relay, or publish the DaemonX loopback service to a local network, the public internet, or any unauthorized application or origin.
Tampering: Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, patch, inject into, or otherwise tamper with DaemonX, its installer, update process, secure storage, communications, or security controls except where applicable law expressly permits such activity.
Fraud or Deception: Use DaemonX to create deceptive or fraudulent receipts, invoices, transaction records, labels, or other printed material, or to conceal unauthorized cash-drawer activity.
Malicious Use: Use DaemonX to introduce malware, disrupt hardware or services, access another customer's devices or data, or perform any unlawful, abusive, or harmful activity.
5. Local Service and Network Requirements
Local-Only Interface: DaemonX is designed to accept supported hardware requests through a local loopback interface. You must not alter firewall, proxy, browser, or operating-system settings to make that interface available to unauthorized networks or applications.
Connectivity: Internet connectivity may be required for installation, pairing, profile synchronization, authorization, updates, and periodic status checks. Local hardware operations may be limited when required cloud authorization is unavailable.
Offline Operation: Any offline operation is temporary and subject to the active profile, lease, permissions, and usage allowance. You must not manipulate system time, stored state, network traffic, or software files to extend or bypass an offline allowance.
Authorization Expiry: Expiration or suspension of an authorization may prevent hardware operations. Authorization expiry does not itself remove local files or pairing data from the computer.
6. Local Data and Uninstallation
DaemonX stores information locally so that it can maintain pairing, device configuration, diagnostics, and supported offline behavior.
Local Storage: Local data may include encrypted pairing credentials, counter profiles, printer and device configuration, application settings, diagnostic logs, cached state, and downloaded update files.
Computer Access: You are responsible for restricting physical and Windows-account access to the computer on which DaemonX is installed and for following appropriate workstation security and backup practices.
Uninstallation Choice: When supported by the installer, uninstalling DaemonX may allow you to retain local data for a later reinstall or permanently remove DaemonX pairing and local data from the current Windows account.
Reinstallation: If local pairing data is removed, reinstalling DaemonX will require the computer to be paired again before protected hardware operations can resume.
7. Data and Diagnostics
DaemonX may process and transmit technical information required to provide, secure, support, and maintain the service, as described in the Nyxzie Privacy Policy.
Technical Information: Technical information may include installation and machine identifiers, application version, uptime, assigned counter identifiers, profile and configuration status, connected printer or device metadata, job counts, diagnostic events, and security-relevant status information.
Hardware Jobs: Receipt, document, and hardware-command data may be processed locally to perform the requested operation. You are responsible for ensuring that any personal, financial, or transaction data submitted through a hardware job is collected and used lawfully.
Diagnostic Logs: Diagnostic logs may record operational metadata needed to troubleshoot failures and investigate abuse. You must not use diagnostics to collect information about another person or business without authorization.
8. Hardware, Drivers, and Physical Safety
Compatibility: You are responsible for installing and maintaining compatible hardware, operating-system drivers, cables, network connections, paper, and other consumables required by your devices.
Safe Operation: You must follow the manufacturer's instructions and applicable safety requirements when installing or operating printers, cash drawers, scanners, and other peripherals.
Third-Party Hardware: Nyxzie does not manufacture third-party peripherals and is not responsible for hardware defects, paper jams, driver conflicts, power failures, network interruptions, or damage caused by improper installation or use.
Business Records: You remain responsible for the accuracy, retention, and legal or tax compliance of receipts, invoices, transaction records, and other business documents produced through DaemonX.
9. Updates and Service Protection
Software Updates: DaemonX may check for and install signed updates needed for security, compatibility, reliability, or continued access to supported services.
Protective Action: Nyxzie may restrict, suspend, revoke, or require re-pairing of a DaemonX profile when necessary to address suspected compromise, abuse, account termination, non-payment, legal requirements, or service security.
No Circumvention: You must not block or manipulate security updates, status checks, or protective controls for the purpose of continuing unauthorized access.
10. Enforcement
A violation of this policy may result in one or more protective or enforcement actions, depending on the nature and severity of the violation.
Available Actions: Nyxzie may issue a warning, limit hardware operations, suspend or revoke a counter profile, require re-pairing, suspend the associated service, terminate access, or report unlawful activity to the appropriate authorities.
Immediate Action: Nyxzie may act without prior notice when reasonably necessary to protect customers, connected hardware, Nyxzie services, or third parties from suspected compromise, fraud, abuse, or unlawful activity.
No Refund for Violations: Services suspended or terminated because of a material violation of this policy are not eligible for a refund except where required by applicable law.
11. Changes and Contact
Nyxzie may update this policy to reflect changes in DaemonX functionality, security requirements, law, or business practices. Updated terms will be published on the Nyxzie website. Continued use of DaemonX after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. Questions or suspected security issues may be reported to [email protected].
